Cape Horn

After leaving Ushuaia last evening we sailed overnight to Cape Horn,
which is the southernmost part of South America and part of Chile. It is
actually a set of islands off the south coast of the continent but close
enough that ships would round Cape Horn on their way to the other side.

We stopped here for our first experience bundling up and going to shore
in a zodiac. We were encouraged to put on many layers so of course we
overdid it and could barely move and quickly overheated and started
sweating. So next time we'll probably wear fewer layers and freeze to
death. The weather here is overcast, misty with sprinkles, with a stiff
wind. It is not very cold here but we haven't gotten to Antarctica yet.

After lunch we drop off the Chilean pilot and head across the Drake Passage.

I'm now blogging via email because of the very slow and expensive
internet on the ship, please excuse the formatting.
